I said I was working on "oldies and biggies" this month and this is one of the oldies.
I won these Block Lotto blocks back in January 2018. Although Block Lotto has disbanded the instructions for making the block are still online.
And sew on...

CELEBRATE! (my word of the year)
Nov. 20 - I am so thankful for the time you all take to comment. Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I learn more about you, sometimes you give me a big head and sometimes I learn something new. On my last post I mentioned I had a burning rash on my face and thought it was from spider bites. A couple of comments mentioned the possibility of shingles. Well, I did not know you could get shingles on the face but when I read about it I figured out that's what I had. My husband told me the "spider bites" were swollen lymph nodes. I've been to the family doctor and opthamologist and am on the road to recovery thanks to a couple of comments. Thank you!
FYI -- I've been asked if I got a shingles shot. The answer is no. I have a history of Guillaine Barre Syndrome (GBS) and evidently a shingles shot can trigger GBS so I opt out on the shingles shot. I don't want GBS ever again. So far shingles is a breeze compared to GBS. And even so the shot is only 90% effective in preventing shingles.

This is really a very modern looking quilt, Cathy--Really striking colors.
Sorry you've had that rash--both Mom and I had the shingles and they kinda give you a "burning" sensation...hope you feel better soon...hugs, Julierose
I am very glad that you are on the road to recovery and that it was treatable but was it really shingles? That is a very bright quilt and it reminds me of the 1960s, I believe, when the artist Mondrian had a very strong influence on fashion.
Good luck with your shingles. I had the just before I turned 50. I wound up with post herpetic neuralgia and 13 years later (and 8 or 9 bouts of shingles later) I have the pain in most of the left side of my body. I hope your treatment started quickly enough! I live on a combination of medication s and Percocet with medical marijuana thrown in to keep the pain at bay. They are not for the faint of heart! Best wishes for a quick bout and no recurrences!❤️
I’m so glad you got steered in the right direction and were able to get medical help for your shingles. I hope you have a mild case.
Shingles! I never thought of that I hope it doesn't get any worse. I got my shot for it about 5 years ago - I think 50 and older are to get it? I need to remind my daughters to get the vaccine - thanks for mentioning it.
I absolutely love this graphic, colorful quilt, Cathy!
Ah yes, the shingles. I had the shingles in my left eye a few years ago. My eye was swollen shut. I did manage to get my open and made an appointment with the eye doctor. He said, 'What are you doing here?" and immediately sent me to the ER...he even called ahead for me! I was like...it's my eye. You go to the eye doctor, right?! Ha, ha!
Wow, scary about the shingles - years ago a co-worker was complaining about a weird rash on her belly, pulled up her shirt to show me and I said "shingles, go immediately to the doctor!". Evidently getting it on one's face is potentially much worse. Glad you got diagnosed and are getting treatment.
cheers, Ceci
