Broken Wheel or Rolling Stone

Broken Wheel or Rolling Stone
9 inch finished

Aqua is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge ( RSC) color of the month. I have already used most of my aqua scraps so decided to work on a UFO with blocks of aqua, red, and purple. I set aside small chunks of fabric in those colors in a project box. I started making blocks in 2023 so maybe this month I will be able to finish up blocks I need.

And sew on...

Finished a thriller! - Mr. Whisper by Andrew Mayne.   Highlighted quote from book..." Here’s the thing the conspiracy theorists don’t understand. There’s not one big giant conspiracy.” He took a sip of his beer and continued. “Just hundreds of tiny ones.""

Surprise! Surprise! Yesterday I received a box of scraps from Nann and I received a box of scraps and backing from Ann. Oh joy! I had such fun looking at each piece while sorting. Oh the scrappy comfort quilts I can make!

Yesterday the zinnias were full of Monarch butterflies whirling and dancing. I think there were about 8 of them. I tried to get a pic of several of them in a photo but they were not very cooperative. A few other types of butterflies stopped by to visit too but didn't stay as long as the Monarchs. Oh the joy of gardening!

Today is Zion's Zinnia and Monarch festival -- your photos would be right at home. Rolling Stone is a block that pops up every so often. I've never made it . . . a dangerous thing to write, isn't it? Hmmm.....

Your Rolling Stone blocks are just great, Cathy! I love the one that has the curvy stripes in it. Beautiful zinnia and monarch photos - what a great sight!

Gorgeous flowers and butterflies. I was given scraps and yardage in the summer and I know the feeling of excitement. I've laid it out on my table numerous times and have already pieced 2 tops. Thank goodness for generous people who expand and enhance our stash. :D

I've seen some of your Rolling Stone blocks before and they look lovely. Like Nann, I've never made one. That may change. My zinnias have bees and wasps on them; only a few butterflies right now.

I have to get some Zinnias for my garden next year. I have some milk weed but no Monarch yet. Love your blocks. Those colours are stunning together. Purple dots with wavy aqua is my favourite. Enjoy! ;^)

The Wheel and Rolling Stone blocks are intriguing. Yes, there is some aqua included. :) Love how you and the rest of us make up our on RSC rules.

I love, love, love the fabric combo in the top row middle block!! The monarchs butterflies are beautiful and I just read the western population has doubled in size in 2025 (though they report the eastern ones have declined to near record lows).

Those are some gorgeous blocks. I especially like how one of them with the stripes seems to give it the feeling of rolling! Oh the butterflies are gorgeous and I like seeing them enjoy the flowers. I am so thankful to Nann and Ann for sending you those wonderful fabrics. They know that you will make much comfort from them.
