Hollow Nine Patch

Hollow Nine Patches finish at 7.5 inches and are made from 3 inch square scraps. It was one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) projects in 2021.
I quilted it on my DSM vertically and horizontally on both sides of the block seam lines and then I quilted it on the diagonals.
And here's a peek at the backing and binding.

A little quilting marathon has been going on here. Soon I will have boxes of comfort quilts for two of my favorite charities that provide quilts for kids - Wrap-A-Smile (WAS) and Quilts Beyond Borders. (QBB).
Wrap-A-Smile (WAS) partners with Rotaplast International.
Rotaplast International, Inc. is committed to helping children and families worldwide by eliminating the burden of cleft lip and/or palate, burn scarring, and other deformities.
The latest mission was in Luxor, Egypt and if would like to see quilts in action as well as read about the wonderful work done to help children and some adults then you have to read all about it at the Rotaplast website. A few times I have been able to spot one of my quilts with a child. Oh joy!
Quilts Beyond Border (QBB) quilts go to many different initiatives...foster care, refugees, Indian reservations, orphanages...you will just have to go read the QBB blog because I can't remember them all.

Your Hollow Nines quilt is great. Have heard of this design and seen you making some blocks but I’ve not tried it myself. Now I’m tempted! Perhaps my first step is to cut some 3” squares?

I'm glad Wrap a Smile is back to it's mission. I haven't received any notices of new posts and tried to add them to my feedly list, but the blog wasn't found. I was following them before Blogger stopped email notifications. You've supplied them with lots of quilts.

Instead of Hollow Nines, I would call it Window Nines, as they look like little windows with some light curtains or shades. Wonderful quilt!

I went over and looked at the ones you sent. All fabulous. I really like that they are all unique. Different patterns and different fabrics. It makes each quilt very special. Thanks for donating your time and love to these charities.

Are you familiar with Sunshine Quilt Guild? They are a group on MeWe they support Comfort Quilts and Wrap A Smile. The group supports Quilts Beyond Borders as well. They're a fun group...fun to hang out and see what everyone else is sending when they have calls for quilts. I find that the group helps keep me inspired.
It's neat to hear where you are donating your quilts. For the past few years I have not quilted much but what I have made I have donated to organizations on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. I may donate more broadly this year.
