Jots, Iotas, Smidgens, Whits and Orts: A Finish!

It's a finish!
Made of Jots, Iotas, Smidgens, Whits and Orts
Some might even call them crumbs
59 x 72

If you've followed my blog you have probably seen me doing a little scrap processing over the years.  One of the last things I do with leftover strip after I make blocks with it is to cut squares or if there is less than a square I sew the pieces into strips by width that I always said would be made into a Chinese Coins quilt someday.  Over the years those little strips have filled up a little box so I decided it was time to sew them together in April of this year.

I quilted it very simply on my DSM with vertical lines in a caramel colored thread.

The binding is an orange batik.

The backing is striped.  It was a little short in width so I added an orange scrap to one side.

And sew on...

do you have a zillion tops that have already been started that you have so many finishes? It seems like you have a new top to show every couple days!!

I like the organized look of this with all of the different size pieced strips. Why is it the quilts made with all of the little scraps always look so cozy?

Amazing how all those tiny scraps came together to form such a lovely cohesive quilt. This will certainly brighten the recipient’s life.

It's awesome! Most people don't realize how long it takes to sew all these tiny little pieces together, much longer than regular blocks. I love how you have columns of little pieces sewn together to fit on a column of bigger pieces. I love looking at all the different prints. I spotted two fabrics that I also have in my stash. Well done, Cathy! ;^)

I love everything about your quilts: the fabric, the layout, the quilting, and your comments for making it. This time, you sent me to the dictionary (well, Google). Your quilt name intrigued me. I could assume from the other words in the name that they all meant "crumbs" but I had to be sure. I have never heard of whits and orts! I will add that to my vocabulary. Thanks for sharing. I love your patience with your projects.

Another excellent finish. You must be running out of scraps considering all the quilts you've finished so far this year.
