Soul Searching
No, no deep thinking going on here. Soul Searching is the name of a quilt in the book Making Quilts by Kathy Doughty. I was looking in that book for what I needed to do to finish up an old UFO (Pickle Dish Variation - make bias binding to go around pickle dish blocks and I have never made that much bias binding). While browsing in the book I saw Soul Searching and decided that is another one to make with my rose prints.
I was actually going to make another Log Cabin like the one I just made with fruity '30s reproduction prints and solids but decided Soul Searching was the way to go instead.
These blocks are easy to pick up and sew when I have a few minutes here and there. Each block measures 12 x 14 inches finished.
I now have 16 blocks and need just 20 more.

And sew on...

wow great scrap user and so colorful!
What wonderful way to show off those rosy pink prints. (Ever since you began blogging about rose fabric it keeps coming up in my stash....are you giving me a sign?) I admire the way that Kathy Doughty combines not-all-that-subtle prints. Too often my attempts are medium-tone jumble.
This is a lovely quilt design, Cathy and looks so good with your myriad of rose fabrics.
This one's going to be very pretty!
I liked that pattern so much I made 2 in that size and one at half size. It will be pretty in your rose prints.
I've always liked the idea of that block - but I LOVE your version using the rose fabrics!!!
Ohhh I like it!!!
this is too funny. Now I am worried that I do not have enough 1 1/2 inch strips. Whatever will I do?!
Ooooo! That's going to be gorgeous!
Really like the variety in the pattern. Looks real lovely so far.
Trying to slowly catch up with reading posts, Soul Searching is one of my favourites from Kathy Doughty, I've often thought I should like to make one of these and follow when Wanda made hers, looking forward now to watching your progress. I'm loving your rosy red and pink fabrics.
