Great Granny Has Been Lingering On Way Too Long,,,

...as a UFO.  That's why I'm setting it as September's goal for A Lovely Year of Finishes. 

So far Great Granny consists of 42 blocks sewn together into 7 rows of 6.  Hopefully by the end of September she will be a completed quilt. 

Time Warp

I have quite a few UFOs that use 30s reproduction fabrics (or fabrics I think remind me of my grandma's quilts). I decided I need to get them all finished before I start another 30s project. So, this weekend I worked on: 

7 more Tulip Blocks

9 more Great Granny blocks (only need 8 more for a total of 42, I think!) 

3 more Farmer's Wife Sampler blocks - Buckwheat, Butterfly at the Crossroads and...

...Cups and Saucers.  I need to count how many more I need to finish this quilt.  I file the blocks in between the pages and I probably shouldn't but other wise I probably wouldn't remember the name of the blocks or which ones I had finished. 

And I made 16 more String Star blocks

For a total of 46  that will be sewn together into groups of 4 

I can't help but feel happy stuck in a 30s time warp.

Flitting...

Flitting from one project to the next. I guess I have a short attention span or I'm easily bored or too tired from working so much overtime. 

I've finished several more string star blocks...

Put together a Christmas Happy Block quilt top. I'm hoping to get it finished for a good friend who is turning 60 in Sep. and who loves Christmas so much she decorates every room of her house. (ugh! - that means you also have to un-decorate at some point).

 And I've finished 4 more Great Granny quilt blocks ala Bee in My Bonnet and Pleasant Home's Sew Along.
That makes a total of 19 out of the desired 42.

I Haven't Forgotten About Great Granny!

Great Granny has not been hung out to dry! 

I've been participating in a "Great Granny Sew Along"  but it's sort of difficult to get too much completed when sewing time is short due to long hours on the job - (12 to 13 hr days until Sep.) 

So w/o further ado...here's what's on my design line blowing in the wind. 

I'm Not a Great Granny but...

...I think I'll participate in the Great Granny Sewalong. Anything that reminds me of Granny (who taught me to sew) has got to be good. And any quilt  made from my 30s reproductions will probably be queen-sized and end up on my bed.
