A Day in the Life of a Daylily

I took a camera with me this morning (about 6:30 a.m.) on my walk through the gardens. I love this time of year when the daylilies are blooming. I started my collection over 30 years ago and over the years have divided them and divided them and divided them.  The flowers usually open early in the morning and wither by the next day. 

One of these days I'm going to make a whole cloth quilt of my flower garden with embroidery, applique, stumpwork, broderie perse and whatever else suits my fancy. So I've been taking lots of pictures for reference. I will probably start on it this fall.

Carolina Chains is a flimsy.

 I started it last year to use 2 inch scraps left over from making Fractured Rainbows (aka Totally Demented aka Garden Mosaic). 

 I used dark fabrics with light chains and light fabric with bright chains and Bonnie Hunter's Carolina Chain pattern. 

 I really like how it turned out and my 2 inch scrap bin is a whole lot lighter. 

 And

Oh Joy! The Daylilies are in bloom in the flower gardens. 

You didn't think I just sewed all day long, did you?

I love this time of year when all the daylilies in my flower gardens are in bloom. 

It was finally a little cooler today and not raining so I enjoyed a little time working on the garden patchwork instead of the fabric patchwork.
