It's A Finish! Wonky Windmills

It's a finish!
Wonky Windmills
56 x 72

I started making the blocks in 2023 as a Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) project. Each block is made with rectangles 4.5 x 5 inch - two each of the background and other fabric. Then they are stacked right side up, cut and shuffled and then sewn together.

In August 2024 I decided to see how many blocks I had and how many comfort quilts I could make from all the blocks I made from scraps up to that point.  I divided blocks into four piles -- novelty, geometrics, florals and pink/black.

I quilted it on my DSM with swirls of gray.

I used up a lot of scrap chunks of gray for three backgrounds.

I bought a bolt of black and white crazy daisies to use as the backing for several quilts. This is quilt #3 and I have enough for another one with a little bit left over.

And sew on...

The wonkiness of the blocks is so fun. And the colors are beautiful. Congratulations on another finish!

Your color choices took a simple block to a real show stopper. That is beautiful.

You can’t go wrong with pink and gray. It’s a winner.

What a great idea, using one bolt for so many projects!

Awesome quilt, Cathy! I bought a bolt of tan fabric and my Cousin Kim bought a bolt of bright daisy fabric. We swapped 4 yards of each to give us both some finishing variety. Missouri Star sells bolts cheaply every now and then, and we keep our eyes peeled!
