It's a top!

I wish I could say I did all that beautiful applique but I am not that good at it. I received the blocks and several others from someone who just loves to applique.
I trimmed this set of blocks to 11.5 inches and made the sashings.
Now it will make the sweetest comfort quilt. I was a little worried about how I would quilt it. The few applique quilts I have made I hand quilted. A few weeks ago I asked the online Stasbusters Group about quilting over applique and some mentioned they quilt over it just like they do pieced blocks.
And sew on...

It has been so hot, humid and rainy the last few days so I have not been out in the gardens much lately. I think we have had 1.5 inches the last couple of days but it looks like more than that in a bucket I leave to collect rain in an area difficult to water. I think another inch is predicted for today. Yesterday I went out in the afternoon to take a look at any wind damage from storm Monday night. While I was out I also harvested beans, black raspberries, peppers and a few tomatoes. I don't think this will be a good year for tomatoes. While I was out I noticed Butterflies, mostly Swallowtails, dancing in the zinnias so went in and grabbed camera.

Beautiful butterflies and flowers, Cathy--great photos;))
What a charming vintage-looking group of appliques you've put together!! Love that little scotty doggie...Stay cool if you can--
they say a cooler run of days is coming tomorrow...

Fantastic design decision for those blocks! I've seen only 1 monarch so far this summer. I sure hope more will appear.
Happy Wednesday. July/Aug is our dry time. Not unusual to have 60d without a drop.
Those are such sweet blocks, and your sashing pulls them together perfectly! You got some wonderful photos of the Swallowtail butterflies. I have some zinnias that are just about to bloom - maybe they'll attract some butterflies, too!
Beautiful photos of your blooms and butterflies!!!!!
tomatoes were horrible here. I cut them all off to six inches and will wait and see if they will grow back. Most were bottom rot, I had some good ones at first but it didn't last long - not enough to can. I made some sauce a couple times and maybe got 2 quarts total. I just went ahead and froze what I didn't use instead of can.
I do like those pretty applique blocks, and the sashing looks great.
Your flower pics are beautiful. You really got some good ones. It seems when I see nature in my back yard, they run when they see me trying to take pictures! LOL That quilt turned out so good. It will really be a comfort to someone. Hopefully, it will be cooling off for you soon.
Whoa, Cathy. Your sashing work is excellent! It makes each block seem more important while also being a strong design element. I have to give this idea a try...
The butterfly photos are lovely and soothing.
