I didn't have anything prepped for my many applique projects and I did not feel like working on my crochet socks so I started another one of the cross stitch kits I picked up from the thrift store a long time ago.
It cost me 95 cents, was never opened and the best part about it is that the cross stitch chart is giant so I can actually see what I am supposed to stitch!
And sew on...

CELEBRATE! (My word of the year)
Feb 17 - Celebrating blackberries from my summer garden. I had a bountiful blackberry harvest last year and ended up freezing a lot of them so we could enjoy them all winter long on ice cream, in smoothies and in cobblers. (We used to make wine with them mixed with wild black raspberries and mulberries). Now that hubby can't swallow and gets his nutrition via formula and a gtube I have not been using many of my gallon bags of blackberries. I decided to make a small blackberry cobbler for myself. I think I will probably make some blackberry jam with the rest of them and share it with family and friends at our next family reunion.

I love blackberry cobbler, so yummy!
That cobbler looks delicious! Your cross stitch kit was a real deal! Happy stitching!
Lovely stitchery pattern--great to get it on sale!!
That blueberry cobbler looks so good--do enjoy...hugs, Julierose
I still have a very full bag of blackberries in the freezer. I try to not bake real often but need to think of what to use these in - I don't like the seeds and did put some through a sieve for jam but it was a bit more work then I wanted.
What a fun cross-stitch project, Cathy - and you can't beat that price either! And yum on the cobbler, too. Have you been on the site "Dessert for Two?" It's not just desserts, but also small batch main dishes that might work for meals for you (and a leftover)! It's dessertfortwo.com
I am drinking a cup of tea and that blueberry cake looks like the right thing to go with it. I have never even attempted cross stitch as my hand sewing is laughable. Birds look great in design.
That's a pretty cross stitch. Your blackberry cobbler looks yummy. I haven't baked anything for ages. I have a cheesecake in mind, but need a couple of ingredients from the shop, which I forget to buy all the time! lol
Goodness it's a long, long time since we used to pick blackberries growing along the hedgerows when we were kids!!!
Your blackberry cobbler looks delicious.
Yes please to a piece of that delicious looking blackberry cobbler. =) Your cross stitch is a pretty project. I've always loved that saying/song.
Pleased you are enjoying your new cross stitch project.
The blackberry cobbler looks delicious. Do you eat cereal for breakfast? Some blackberries on top of porridge, muesli or cornflakes would be nutritious and delicious!
What a great deal you got on that cross stitch project! I love all the birds - it's a perfect thing to stitch while we wait for the birds to return! Thanks for linking up to Slow Sunday Stitching!
That's a lovely cross stitch you have started, and what could be nicer than BlackBerry cobbler for dessert.
That looks delicious! Some ice cream, too, right?
Are you watching All Creatures Great and Small on PBS? Great series!
I think that is my favorite saying. That is a beautiful pattern. I designed a cross-stitch for it years ago and stitched it. I am partial to the James Herriot books that use those lines for their titles. That blackberry cobbler looks yummy.
Oh, my! What a great find! I would be more than willing to pay for copy services and postage/shipping for a copy of that pattern. That is my all-time favorite piece of poetry...and it features birds that are not in the territory I live in. I moved from Missouri to Washington a number of years ago and I can't tell you how much I miss Cardinals and even Bluejays (pesky as they may be). Please let me know if that would be possible. dinah.lee44@att.net. Thanks so much for your consideration!
very nice posts digitizing services interesting job
