Scrap Bag Medley
64 x 80
It's a finish!
I made the top last year when I was working on emptying scrap bins I organized by scrap width.
Everything goes! I think this was one of the last quilt tops to be made with 2.5 inch and 4.5 inch scraps.
A bunch of 8 inch (finished) blocks - Rail Fence, Sixteen Patch, Four Patch, Happy Blocks.
I quilted it on my DSM with swirls. I had read that several people use lime green thread to quilt multicolor quilts so I thought I would give it a try. Yes, it did blend well with all colors. I was going to make a scrappy binding but couldn't decide what scraps to use when my eyes fell on a pink, yellow, blue stripe and I thought it looked like there was just enough left for binding. Yes, there was just enough.
The backing is an old colorful floral M'Liss fabric I picked up when Hancock Fabric went out of business in 2016. I thought it was time to take it off the shelf and use it.

What a great quilt! I would never have guessed to put this plan of mixed blocks on my list, but hey ............ it works!

Fun colorful finish! Thanks for the hint about lime green thread, I'm going to try that as soon as I can get some ordered. Happy weekend!
A fabulous quilt. My eye keeps catching sight of yet another different block I want to zoom in on. Isn’t it amazing how all those different strong colours all come together so well? I must remember the lime green thread trick.
Cheerful and just plain fun! The binding and backing are just right.
Wow! Another winner, Cathy! I’m writing down your recipe.
A bunch of 8” blocks - 16 parch variety
Some more 8” blocks, like 4 patch and rail fence
Finally stir in some 8” happy blocks.
Back with an “aged” piece of fabulous yardage.
Finish with the perfect striped binding!
fun quilt - the backing is really pretty

That's interesting about lime-green. I like this a lot -lots to look at, very scrappy but it still feels coherent.
As always, I love to see your quilts and creativity.
Nobody does cheerful as well as you! That quilt is a real smile-generator!
And I hadn't heard that about lime thread - I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!
Great finish! I had never heard about the lime green thread as a blender. I'll need to keep that in mind.
This is so pretty! I never would have thought of lime green thread but I bet it looks great. Such a fun backing print!
