Sunburst
Blocks 2-5 of 12
In black, red, white and lots of rose prints
20 inch
Pattern from Making Quilts With Kathy Doughty
I am not crazy about the block in the second pic because there is not enough contrast. I am not sure if I will leave it, take apart and remake with red points, or make one to replace it.

We had snow and bitterly cold temps yesterday. Right now it is -7 with real feel of -24. The house is creaking and moaning and working hard to keep us warm. Yesterday inside temp stayed around 64. Good thing I have some quilts!

Just lovely blocks using your rose fabrics, cathy. ;))) hugs, Julierose
I agree with you on the second block but maybe you’ll find it provides interest when you have all the blocks finished. I bought Kathy’s book because you said it’s a pretty easy one and because of Fairlawn. Lots of inspiration in it!
Wait and see on the iffy block - like Cherie, I think it 'might' surprise you when the blocks are all side by side. And if not, THEN you can remake it. Love the idea of December being about roses for you.
too cold for me - it is 20 here and staying steady 68 in the house - tonight might be colder
Such pretty blocks, roses, roses, all the way! Yes,you are fight about block 2, I thought it was a circle appliqued, didnt notice the points at first.
Wow! Those blocks are exquisite! I’m with you on wanting more contrast, as the other blocks show off each of its fabrics so well. 👍🏻🤩 NancyO.
Pretty cold and snowy here. Drove to the country to cut a tree down today and it was winter wonderland extraordinaire. Love the roses!
I love all of these and especially the spider fabric in the second block. Agree that swapping out the points to a future block and subbing in something more contrasty might strengthen the whole composition. Maybe make a game time decision when it's time for blocks 11 & 12? Would hate to lose the spiders! They probably eat the aphids and help keep the roses healthy.
