Garden by Moonlight

It's a finish!
In 2021 I decided to make a few quilts to use a lot of aging big prints. I chose to use Double Sawtooth blocks with a big 9.5 inch center. In this top I used big print florals with dark backgrounds.
I finished the top back in May 2021. I also pieced a backing for it at that time but it wasn't until now that I got around to getting it quilted. I free motion quilted it on my DSM with 3 petaled flowers.
The backing is pieced with big prints too.
The binding is a floral with dark background too.
My husband doesn't usually comment too much on my quilts but he asked if he could have this one. He likes to keep one on the back of his recliner to use when needed. He kind of surprised me with that request but now the quilt is on the back of his recliner.
And now I can check the first one of the year off the UFO list!
And sew it goes...
Happy New Year!

Beautiful quilt! Congrats on the finish! Your DH sure loves it since he asked to have it.
Your quilt is gorgeous and vibrant, Cathy. Well done. Happy New Year.
This is a stunning finish--such a richly colored piece--I just love it...I can definitely see why your DH wanted this for himself...Beautiful work hugs, Julierose
Beautiful florals on black backgrounds, just what I love! You are off to a great start for the year. Hope this year will be a good one for you.
That's a great way to start a new year, with a finish! Congrats! Big prints intimidate me but you sure know what to do with them. Beautiful! All the best for the New Year! ;^)
Starting the year with a finish--not an oxymoron at all. Great way to use those prints.
There is such a stigma about using floral prints in a man's quilt but let's face it, they like flowers as much as ladies do and maybe even more. This one is such a beauty I can see why he would want to keep it. It's like a fresh bouquet every day.
Like Wanda said! Beautiful finish - and Happy New Year to you!
What a gorgeous quilt. So striking - no wonder your husband wanted to keep it. Great use of those lovely big florals and using them in a pieced backing worked brilliantly.
It is definitely a win when hubby likes a quilt. Congratulations on a finish and on keeping it in the house.
What a beautiful and happy quilt! It’s always a nice surprise when the hubby admires something and wants to keep it for himself. That is the best compliment in the world and makes for two happy hearts!!
Since lots of men like to garden, I guess it would not be unusual for a man to like a floral quilt. Now you'll be able to see it on a regular basis. I need to start using some of my large floral prints. They're not doing anyone any good folded up in a box.

who knew gardens were still pretty at midnight - nice
Not surprised your husband asked for this one - absolutely glorious. I wouldn't have thought so many florals would play so nicely together. Right, I'm off to have deep dig around in my stash I have blacks and florals to find!! Thanks for sharing, Elaine in UK
Happy New Year! I love the way the dark red (petunias?) glow out from amongst the rest. Just like a real garden.
I love how your husband asked for it. It is such beautiful reminder of all the flowers blooming after a long winter! I also like how every fabric went along with the others. Happy New Year!
I like it...a LOT!
Large florals are always such a puzzle. Good for you for finding the perfect solution!
Oh how wonderful that this treasure has already found a home!
