In the Jungle
42 x 54
Last year some members of Sunshine Online Quilt Guild were sent tiger panels and challenged to make amore kid friendly quilts. I cut the three tigers from the panel...
...then put them in a jungle full of colorful flowers and foliage. (I used the Violet flower block tutorial), I quilted it with leaves of green.
I even found a parrot for the jungle. I had just enough of a leafy batik to use for binding.
And I pieced another backing for this one. The "On the Serengeti" with the colorful piecing insert came from a friend. Someone with the Sunshine Online Quilt Guild was recently offering up a box of 12 inch blocks so I snatched those up to use some in pieced backings. And what did I find amongst the received blocks??? A few Happy blocks with Tigers. So I added those Happy Tigers to the Serengeti and then I also added most of what was left of the panel to the backing.
This one will go to Quilts Beyond Borders (QBB) so I've added a label as required.
QBB is currently collecting quilts for Comfort Cases and the Navajo Nation . QBB also recently started collecting quilts for 150 Afghan refugee families in Washington State. QBB may also still be collecting for Syrian refugees as that has been an ongoing initiative for quite awhile.
And on to the next!
(How many will I finish in September????)

Such a great job with the tigers. They really do look like they are in the jungle.
What an awesome quilt. You did a great job with the back too. Congratulations! ;^)
Wow love the Jungle! What block/pattern are the flowers? They really caught my eye.
Such a fun quilt - it's a garden in a quilt!
What an amazing quilt, front and back! And so wonderful that you are donating it to such a good cause. Thanks for the link to Quilts Beyond Borders.
Can you give me a bit more information about the quilts for WA state Afghan refugee families? I did not find anything at the QBB website about this drive. My quilt guild may be able to donate. Thanks!
That is such a cool idea! Love the jungl-y flowers mixed in with the tigers. Someone's going to love that!
This is definitely another winner - those flowers in the jungle for the tigers are glorious! (and yes, I have gone and printed off the info for QOB for the coming year)
Another winner. I love how those tigers are hiding in the jungle.

Wow, those tigers are amazing. I would never have thought to combine them with the flowers, but your jungle theme, complete with parrot, really works.

Awesome jungle quilt; those blocks made your quilt so colorful and bright. It will be loved!
The tiger quilt is so much fun and gorgeous, too!
Cute idea for panels. Are you quilting one a day?
Pretty and fun quilt
OK, your fault, you gave me a couple of ear worms to compete in my head, "in the jungle, the mighty jungle the [tiger] sleeps tonight", and "I see leaves of green, red roses too..." this one sung by Louis Armstrong.
