It's a flimsy!
Ocean Waves
88 x 88
I felt a little guilty for getting Fractured Rainbows to flimsy stage when I had this old Ocean Waves UFO with larger and fewer HSTs so got to work on finishing up the 12 blocks I needed to get this made into a top.
Looking at previous blog posts it appears I started this in July 2014 after I saw one on Q is for Quilter in June 2014. I used 30s reproduction fabrics and bleached muslin for the most part but it appears some Kona Snow might have slipped in here and there. I usually use Kona Snow with my 30s reproduction fabrics and it kind of looks dirty when mixed with the bleached muslin. I think it will be okay since those few Kona squares and HSTs are barely noticeable.
I usually don't add borders to my quilts but in this case I did to bring it up to the size I wanted. Adding another row and column of 16 inch blocks would have made it too big. If I didn't add a border it would be a little too small. A four inch border all around made it just right and besides I had all those HSTs already made that I didn't want to go to waste.
And now it's ready for hand quilting...someday.

This is beautiful!!! Hope someday is not too far off, I would want to put this to use.....Wow!
My goodness, another flimsy completed. Love the border, just right for framing the quilt design. Enjoy the hand quilting - whenever that happens.
Fabulous. Just fabulous. I am in awe...
HOLY MOLY! That's gonna be a stunner. So much color!
This is a beauty! Hand quilting well deserved for this flimsy!
It's gorgeous! I really love it! Is there any quilt design you haven't made? What's on your bucket list?
Beautiful quilt flimsy, the 1030's and crisp white are a perfect combination and hand quilting in the spaces will make it very special when finished, congratulations.
gorgeous work on this..hugs, Julierose
Wow! It is beautiful and that HST border is perfect!
That is incredible, and the borders are a great finishing touch! ---"Love"
Congrats on completing your top--it's beautiful! I've always wanted to make an Ocean Waves quilt, but yikes--so many HST's!! I'm impressed!
So pretty and fresh!
It's very lovely, but I am wondering if you now see HSTs when you close your eyes at night!
Beautiful!!!
I hear you about the colour difference! Years ago I made a quilt with Kona black, bought as yardage. Halfway through laying out my HSTs I had a brain wave on the layout. But I needed to make another dozen HSTs. Found the perfect fabric at a different store and bought more Kona black. Dammed if that isn't a totally different dye lot (and it's more vibrant too! Hasn't faded at all...)
Your quilt looks great and I can't see the colour difference from here.
Another gorgeous finish. I just love the old fashioned vibe!
