This and That - Handwork

I work on a variety of small handwork projects when it's too hot to hand quilt a large quilt.

 All Creatures Great and Small
EPP Hexies - New Additions
I now have 88 hexies.

 Staying Neutral
Crazy Quilt
2 new six inch blocks
Butterfly chain, lots of bullion rosebuds and flyleaf leaves
I also crocheted a snowflake and stitched it to a block with some couched fluffy yarn scraps that remind me of blowing snow.

Chicken Scratch Sashing
And I've been slowly doing some chicken scratch embroidery. Each strip will be a sashing for a quilt. I only need 84 strips of chicken scratch.  Only 84! Who's idea was this?

Meanwhile I've been eating, drying and pickling peppers...

...contemplating making sauerkraut since most of last year's supply is gone...
...eating and pickling cucumbers. Notice my old wire hanger trellis? It has lasted many years.
And I spend some time enjoying nature's flower arrangements.  The blue flowers are actually wildflowers  - tall bellflowers - that planted themselves there around a clump of Stargazer Lilies.
But I don't think I'll stop and smell these roses. Darned Japanese Beetles!!!!!

Beautiful projects for summer stitching!
The chicken scratch is so interesting, but whose idea was it to make the goal or 84?!?!
Oh yah, it was YOU! *LOL*

Drooling over those peppers! But not the cabbage. Or the bugs.

Your hand work projects are looking great.
Thanks for the garden update, pests are a reality aren't they?
Around here deer eat the roses but good thing, there seems to be enough roses
so the deer can't eat them all.

Beautiful peppers! Fresh vegetables taste so much better than store bought. I really miss my little garden. Do you find that you accomplish a lot more since starting your blog?

I am partial to chicken scratch. I made a baby quilt with it many years ago. Your flowers, vegetables and other hand stitching is very pretty.

The photo of the peppers looks like it should be in a magazine. They look scrumptious. Watch out for those wild bellflowers. They are invasive around here and will choke out your lovely lilies which I can't grow any more because of the red lily beetle. Your projects look like they will keep you busy.
