Pickle Dish is a top!
I followed the pattern in Kaffe Fassett's book Quilt Romance.
This will be a wedding quilt for one of my granddaughter's hope chest. She just turned 10 so I have plenty of time for hand quilting. (At least I hope I have plenty of time...no one really knows these things for sure).
I started a little bit of hand quilting on it last night. Well, the thread I bought is machine quilting not hand quilting so I think it is 30 wt instead of 20 wt so I had a difficult time threading the needle. I guess I'll have to change the size needle I use. To start with I'm going to stitch inside the line on every other pickle in the arches. The thread I'm using matches the maroon? burgundy? color in that background fabric.

What a beautiful quilt and a wonderful gift for your granddaughter in the future.
What a beautiful quilt ... so well done! I would think 30 wt would be fine for hand quilting. I usually use Presencia or YLI for hand quilting ... and both sell 40 wt for hand quilting.
It's so beautiful / enjoy your quilting stage now.
And another gorgeous finish! I love that pattern...hugs, Julierose
I have used machine quilting thread to do hand quilting with success. Good luck with your project!
Wonderfully colorful quilt gift.

I love the fabrics and the pattern of your quilt. Happy quilting!
This striking, bold quilt is a feast for the eyes. Lovely combination of colors. I've had this one marked in my Kaffe book for a while. Maybe it's time to start one of my own.
Where in Iowa do you live? I'm an Iowa quilter as well. I've let my blog go for a few months but hop around blogland now and then for inspiration. I'm definitely inspired by the varied, wonderful quilts you've finished over the years.
I love this quilt! I must go and hunt out his Quilt Romance book and refresh my memory on the size of the blocks.
A wonderfully happy quilt! Enjoy your hand stitching!
Simply glorious!!!
Even Kaffe would not have thought to use the burgundy floral and the navy dots. Works brilliantly!
Love everything about it! Makes me want to make another one!
