Fine and Dandy
51 x 63
It's a finish!
And it is hand quilted.
(Pictures were taken several days ago before yesterday's big snow storm.)
I finished the top back in December 2020. The center blocks were orphans. The Flying Geese and coping strip were scraps and the fabrics used are '30s reproductions.
The block is called The Dandy Quilt and the pattern for it is at Quilter's Cache.
I hand quilted it with blanc perle cotton #12.
The binding is scrappy.
The back is a sweet floral.
I must really like The Dandy Quilt block. I've made several Dandy Quilts over the years and I also have an incomplete block set made with floral scraps.
And sew on...
It is a fine and dandy quilt finish for sure, nice work, pretty fabrics to work with.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is a pretty quilt!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on this lovely finish. I clicked all your links to see the others. I'm liking this Dandy Block especially the QOV with plaids. Gorgeous! The snow we had yesterday is melting this morning; I hope yours is melting too. ;^)
ReplyDeleteI like all these quilts you are making in the 30's fabrics, so cute! Happy stitching!
ReplyDeletegreat quilt - you have shown so many in recent weeks have they all been made this year? are started in other years and making finishings now?
ReplyDeleteA very nice finish for some pretty orphans! And good job on the hand quilting too!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Nice flying geese border. Beautiful quilting!
ReplyDeleteI love that Dandy block, and yours made a beautiful quilt! The flying geese are a fun border, too. This is a sweet finish, Cathy!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finish! Great work!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun finish! Love the backing fabric!
ReplyDeleteFine and Dandy is spectacular . What a fun and happy quilt. Well done.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful story of your beautiful quilt. A real treasure. I love everything about the quilt, the pieced binding works so well and I love the pretty floral backing. I hope you keep this quilt for yourself, Cathy.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful quilt you have fashioned! The pretty backing has made my heart skip a beat.....so, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is so bright and cheerful. I love it. So glad you got a photo before the Spring snow.
ReplyDeleteGreat name for a block. It is beautiful in all your variations!
ReplyDeleteAnd a fine and dandy quilt it certainly is! I enjoyed looking back at your earlier Dandy quilts too, thanks for the links. And I have to ask, what did hubby's long lost and recently discovered friend think when his quilt arrived upon the doorstep?
ReplyDeleteOh my! Can't believe you got snow again! We had 87.8F yesterday and waiting patiently for cooler days. Another finished beauty, Cathy! So pretty! I have to kick myself to get some UFOs done too.
ReplyDeleteNice quilt Cathy and a nice size!
ReplyDeleteWhat a dandy delight to see all your variations on this block. Goes to show the versatility of a good basic block -- and the benefit of a ginormous stash. :)
ReplyDeleteI checked out all of your Dandy quilts with the links provided and they are all so different! I really like this design a lot with and without borders, although the flying geese border with the 1930s fabrics is perfect. I would really love some of that floral backing fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! Great (but daunting) border.
ReplyDeleteI added the Dandy quilt to my saved patterns. I hope to make some blocks...or maybe a while darn quilt. Thanks for the referral.
Wow I love that block! Like others I like the POV also, and it is so soft and warm in 30's fabrics.
