Hexagon Roses
It's a Finish!
Hand Quilted

All of the hexagon and connecting triangles are rose prints. For the hexagons I tried to keep with darker more vintage-y looking prints. The connecting triangles are small prints in cream or white.
I hand quilted it (big stitching) with perle cotton #12 in a cream color.
I thought I was going to have a problem binding the top and bottom zig zaggy edges. I tried a single fold binding for the first time as that was what was suggested in the instructions and had no problems thank goodness.
This one is for me. I just love roses and have made quite a few quilts with rose prints.
I enjoyed hand quilting this one. I just stitched about 1/4 inch inside each hexagon and triangle. I didn't mark anything just used my eyeballs to judge where to stitch. It's just for me and I don't mind if a few lines aren't all that straight or exactly 1/4 inch from seam line.
I pieced the back. Again...rose prints.
And sew on...
Oh my. I was just looking at rose bushes online yesterday, trying to get a whiff through the computer. This is a whole bouquet. It is just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The hexagons with roses are wonderful, and that giant rose print on the back blew me away!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty quilt! I love both front and back. I'm glad you are keeping this one for you--lots of happy time ahead spent under your rose garden.
ReplyDeletebeautiful and worthy of keeping- did you hand piece the hexagons or machine piece?
ReplyDeleteThat really turned out nice. I am always impressed with your quilts. I went over and looked at your string quilts and you had a nice variety from what I would call string quilts. You gave them an extra touch. I had to look at your inspiration quilts too. Wow, some of those look intimidating for me!
ReplyDeletethat is such a good use for scraps - I bet you used up a lot of them
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent! What a lot of work, no wonder you have decided to keep it yourself. Enjoy the fruits of your hard work,Cathy.
ReplyDeleteEverything's coming up roses!
ReplyDeleteRoses in January! Just what we all need. I used a single binding too when I did the pointed edge on 2 quilts. Double would have been way too bulky on those inside corners.
ReplyDeleteLovely roses quilt! I do understand why you're keeping it, such a pretty quilt. Love the back too, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT! Thanks for linking it in your RSC post.
