Kid Row
in blue.
It's a flimsy!
45 x 61
To make the Little People I used instructions (with some modifications) found at de Jong Dream House.
I made blue Hollow Nine Patches with gray centers from some 3 inch scraps. The blocks finished at 7.5 inches.
I also made Pinwheels in blue and gray from 3 inch scraps for a couple more rows.
Bright and dark blue is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) color of the month. I used all blues (and aquas) to make a quilt top this month and in the next blue month I'll probably make most of my other RSC blocks with all blues
. I'm planning several more Kid Row quilts for RSC projects but will probably combine some colors and just make a few blocks from scraps in the color of the month for the rows. I'll probably end up combining reds, pinks, purples and maybe yellow, oranges, browns. I will probably have an entire Kid Row in greens. And then I've been thinking there may be a black and multicolor Kid Row.
And sew it goes...
That's adorable!
ReplyDeleteI love the Kid row quilt in all those blues--what a neat idea what with them appearing to hold hands...nice work hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThis is a really neat quilt. The colors and contrast are just perfect. It is a fun quilt, but not "cutesy". I could see this being a raffle quilt for a preschool. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute quilt idea! I bet that will be loved by any kiddo receiving it.
ReplyDeleteYou’ve definitely got the Kid Row bug! Can’t believe how quickly you have put this flimsy together. It’s great and more in the pipeline too!
ReplyDeleteI can just see a little kid naming all of the kids on their quilt and having fun telling stories about them. Multicolor kids would work on all of the quilts with the alternate rows being the color of the month.
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable! The blue backgrounds really work, too.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute Cathy. Happy stitching :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great flimsy! It’s adorable - way to go!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea to add rows of pinwheels and 9 patches to the Kid Row quilts. And I like Wanda's suggestion of using multi-color kids with the RSC color for the added rows, maybe incorporating your idea of a more controlled color choice like warm or cool colors together. This will be a delightful series.
