Dove In The Window

Dove in the Window
It's a top!
84 x 84

I've been wanting to take pictures all day but we have had 20-35 mile per hour winds and snow flurries and hail off and on. I just noticed a break in the weather so ran out for a photo shoot.

This has been one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) projects this year. I chose several blocks that use 3.5 and 2 inch pieces cut from a scrap chunk in the RSC color of the month.

I used mostly small print florals because I wanted a sort of vintage look.

Laura Ingalls Wilder (Little House on the Prairie) made a Doves in the Window quilt for her hope chest.

I used the instructions for the block found in Ladies' Art Company Block Tool. It's a treasure trove of vintage blocks.   Depending upon number of fabrics used in the block and fabric placement the blocks look very different.

  7. That is gorgeous!! What a perfect RSC project too.

We have 30-40 mph winds and light snow yesterday too. It howled all the night before, and finally calmed down late in the afternoon.

  10. This is my kind of quilt - small florals and vintage looking! I have that Ladies' Art Company Block Tool. I picked it up at a thrift store awhile ago but I haven't used it yet. I keep forgetting about it. Thanks for the reminder.
