Dove in the Window
It's a top!
84 x 84
I've been wanting to take pictures all day but we have had 20-35 mile per hour winds and snow flurries and hail off and on. I just noticed a break in the weather so ran out for a photo shoot.
This has been one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) projects this year. I chose several blocks that use 3.5 and 2 inch pieces cut from a scrap chunk in the RSC color of the month.
I used mostly small print florals because I wanted a sort of vintage look.
Laura Ingalls Wilder (Little House on the Prairie) made a Doves in the Window quilt for her hope chest.
I used the instructions for the block found in Ladies' Art Company Block Tool. It's a treasure trove of vintage blocks. Depending upon number of fabrics used in the block and fabric placement the blocks look very different.
Wow, such a beauty and look at all those bits and pieces. Love the colors!

ReplyDeleteWe have 30-40 mph winds and light snow yesterday too. It howled all the night before, and finally calmed down late in the afternoon.
What a beautiful quilt top. There is something special about vintage looking fabrics with an old fashioned block. SO pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou got your Dove in the Window top together very quickly. It looks great. One for your Heirloom Chest perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of quilt - small florals and vintage looking! I have that Ladies' Art Company Block Tool. I picked it up at a thrift store awhile ago but I haven't used it yet. I keep forgetting about it. Thanks for the reminder.
