A Finish

It's a finish!
67.5 x 82.5

It seems like this year I have been quilting most of the flimsies I made in 2019. Someday maybe I will get caught up.

I used two different blocks with batiks that were swapped long ago - maybe as far back as 2010 or earlier.

One of the blocks is a batik Happy Block with 4 inch centers and 2.5 inch sides that finishes at 7.5 inches.

The other block is a trimmed down Framed Four Patch with 4.5 center and 2.5 inch sides in black trimmed down to an 8 inch unfinished block so I could pair them up with the smaller Happy Blocks.

It's quilted with some horizontal and vertical lines and even has some LOVE quilted in.

The back.

Now it is ready for giving or gifting. Or it might go into a "hope chest pile". I just realized my granddaughters will turn 17 this year and will soon be going off to college and/or setting up their own households. It has been my plan to have a pile of things like quilts, potholders, crocheted dishcloths, embroidered dish towels, pillowcases, etc. for them to choose from when the need arises.

  1. Congratulations on a finish. I like quilts like this as it seems folks enjoy looking at all the different fabrics. Keeps you warm, cozy and interested.

  3. I'm sure your granddaughters would love this quilt, but it looks very masculine to me. Perhaps it would make a great donation quilt for a needy man somewhere. Great job! ---"Love"

  6. Great idea to alternate Happy Blocks with the framed 4patch blocks. Lovely finish.

  7. I like the way the black-framed blocks "look" smaller than the batik-framed. It gives a lot of visual movement (as if all that color needed any more motility!).

  8. Great way to use up those swap blocks from before postal charges made it prohibitive. It looks fantastic.

  10. What a clever way to combine your blocks. Congratulations on another finish. That’s always a good thing but this is a colorful beauty.
