Oh Dear!

Oh Dear! We re only three days into a new year and I fear I've already started something new.  The January 2019 Quiltfolk pattern subscription is for a quilt called Minnie's Stars.  I love it and thought I would try a couple of blocks. Sheesh...they take longer to cut than to sew together.  I will definitely make this one. The trapezoids will be in blues and the triangles and the diamonds that form the stars will be in warm colors - red, orange, yellow, pink.

Now I only need 126 more blocks for a quilt 83 x 90.  I hope I can find enough blues and warms in my stash.

  1. I made this out of plaids and flannels a few years ago after seeing an antique version made out of shirting. I LOVE how it turned out.

  2. Seeing you say that reminds me that I don't often think in terms of warm and cool colors, yet that can be the secret to success. I'll try to be more mindful. Oh, I'm a 60-degree nut so I look forward to following your progress.

  7. Oh yes, I too had a second look at both the vintage and 'new' version of this quilt, very pretty. Your blocks look great, love the warm/cool contrast.

  8. I think the stars will make a wonderful secondary design. I like the color division you chose, too.

  9. And now I think I know where the “crazy” part of your blog name really comes from! (Wink)

  10. You have definitely encouraged me to take at least 15 minutes a day to sew, but I still say you have named your blog correctly. All those tiny pieces are insane and crazy! (to me anyway LOL) You certainly make some beautiful quilts with them though. Congratulations.

  11. Hey, you managed two days without starting a new project. Kudos! I started three new quilts before the year even started!

  12. I started three projects already this year. I thought that was a rule after the new year.

Can't wait to see more blocks!

  13. I actually stopped my pattern subscription because I wanted to make every single one and that just won't happen. So . . . I'll make the ones I have that I love and then consider re-subscribing.
