Soul Searching In The Rose Garden

It's a finish!
Soul Searching in the Rose Garden
84 x 84
Hand quilted

I finished the top back in 2022. I used red and white rose themed prints.

The inspiration came from the book Making Quilts by Kathy Doughty. Her Soul Searching quilt is 84 inches wide and 72 inches long. I added 3 rows at the top and bottom so I could have a little wider quilt.

I big stitch hand quilted it with red and white threads - perle #12.

The back is a gently used sheet from the thrift store with roses.

And sew on...

  9. Beautiful Cathy! ❤️ To think of the bazillions of tiny stitches your hands have done! As I age I can really see the years in the appearance of my hands - but I tell myself these hands have given much service. Thanks for sharing pics of your creations - Beth in AL

  11. All roses, and beautiful! I have made that pattern too and it was so much fun. I doubt that mine had any roses.

  18. Gorgeous finish and I love that backing, too! What size needle do you use for your big stitch hand quilting? Was it difficult to needle through the quilt with a sheet backing? I've steered clear of using sheets for backing anything hand quilted due to other quilters telling me that sheets have higher thread counts, but the one you used is just delightful! Any tips for working with sheets you can share?
