Two New Tops
One has ballerinas and the other has dinosaurs.
Both are 45 x 54
I've had some ballerina novelty fabrics laying around in the sewing space for quite some time - maybe 12 years or so? I bought it and made a few quilts for the granddaughters when they were around five years of age or so. Back then they loved to dance and also loved pink.
I had a lot of the little ballerina print. That is a larger print and I didn't want to cut it up too much. I was going to make 9 inch (finished) Snowballs and Nine Patches but decided I didn't want to add any flippy corners to the 9.5 inch squares so didn't.
A lot of the Nine Patches have ballerina slipper prints in them. I combined those with some ginghams and stripes.
I might even have enough of another ballerina print for a backing although I may have to add a few pieces since this top is 45 wide.
The other top has dinosaur prints leftover from making my grandson a couple of quilts. He will be 14 at the end of next month so I decided it was time to move these prints on to a quilt for donation.
Instead of just Squares and Nine Patches I also made a few Happy Blocks for the mix. I had a few 6.5 inch squares of dinos from some old old swaps. I framed some with some dino footprints and a few others with tropical flowers.
Now these are going into the quilting pile.
Still continuing on with my theme of KIDS! KIDS! KIDS! this month so more to come.
And sew on...
A couple kids are going to really love these quilts. I can't believe how dinosaurs have stayed so popular with the kids. Other things come and go.
ReplyDeleteLucky are the children who will receive these wonderful quilts. Well done on getting some older fabric out. ;^)
ReplyDeleteGreat way to use up those 'old' fabrics. The kids who get the quilts will be thrilled, I'm sure! Those quilts are so fun.
ReplyDeleteYou are so productive. And so many cheerful and clever ideas.
