Wishing Rings - A Finish!

Wishing Rings
It's a finish!
84 x 91
620 blocks that finish at 3.5 inches.

I quilted it on my DSM. The quilt has a lot of seams in it and I didn't want to cross over all those flippy corners so I decided to quilt it with crazy eights somewhat following the outer ring. I didn't even try to make perfectly spaced eights because I knew that would be impossible for me to do while quilting such a big quilt on my DSM. So I just took it easy, didn't stress about it and the quilting was finished in no time.

I pieced together a couple of pieces of muslin for the back and the binding was also muslin. A big bed quilt doesn't require anything fancy on back.

And sew on...

  1. Love this! I remember when you and others were making these rings. Glad to see the finish and I like the way you used the fabric in each block. I have a difficult quilt that I might do the crazy eight on- it looks perfect for what I need.

  3. That quilt has a lot of fun fabrics to look at. I might think that was a real spider (on green) on my quilt and might get freaked out though. That is a lot of 3" blocks to sew together.

  6. It's a beautiful quilt! But it must be very, very heavy. That must have been hard to wrangle on your DSM. I don't envy you that.

  8. Wow, Cathy! This is fabulous! I love your quilting solution, too. The quilting makes the back of the quilt nearly as exciting as the front. Congratulations on your finish!

  15. 620 blocks, Cathy? Have mercy!! I'm not sure I would have the fortitude to complete that many. It certainly made for a fun quilt, though!

  16. I think that was the perfect quilting technique to use on this beautiful quilt. Crazy eights! Love! The muslin backing and binding is a great nod to the vintage inspiration for this quilt too!
