I finished the top in June. I've made several of this same type of quilt and used different sized squares depending upon the scraps I have on hand. Although I haven't used the free pattern all of my quilts like this have been inspired by the one at Swim Bike Quilt called Star Bright.
For this one I used 5 inch squares. I had to piece together a few scraps to make up some squares. I quilted it with swirls and used dark brown and black scraps for binding.
This is the back. I realized after I took the photo that you can't see that cute backing fabric so...
...here's a close up.
That's finish #17 for September!
My OMG (One Monthly Goal) is to see how many quilts I can finish in September.
And on to the next!
(How many will I finish in September????)
I vowed that there would be no piecing, cutting or squirrels allowed in the sewing room this month . I'm starting to experience withdrawal symptoms. Hope I can make it to the end of the month! 😅 7 days and counting!
Thanks to all who have been cheering me on! I hope to get around to reply to emails this afternoon.
What a delightful backing for your latest finish. Great quilt, good idea for a donation quilt or a baby quilt. Another idea for me to squirrel away!
ReplyDeleteOne big star adds so much to this assortment of scraps!
ReplyDeleteI really like this design … scrappy, easy to make, and very pleasing when finished.
ReplyDeleteI really like this design! I've added it to my files.
ReplyDeleteJust be like the Little Engine That Could, "I think I Can! I think I can!" We all know that you can do it.
ReplyDeleteI can see a pre-teen-aged boy wrapped up in that cute quilt! Don't worry about replying to our comments! Use that time to reach your goal for this month! I know you will make it! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteAnd another lovely finish--good for you girl!! Hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThis one looks extra cozy, Cathy. Nicely done!!
ReplyDeleteYour backing is adorable! I've never seen that fabric before. Your back must be killing you from all of the basting. You are going to be an expert at quilting on a DSM though. In fact, you can probably quilt with your eyes shut at this point.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is so pretty! I love the backing also. Keep going on the no squirrels! Hugs,
ReplyDeleteI love this !! I hope the squirrels stay out of your sewing room--your finishes so far are fantastic
ReplyDeleteOh I love this one!
ReplyDeleteThis one makes me want to pull out the plaids!!!
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of one fancy pieced block, the star, with the simplicity of the just cut squares! What a great donation of quilt for someone young who has no understanding of the time a quilt with multi pieced blocks takes.
ReplyDeleteWow! Your September is just incredible with so many lovely finishes. This last one with the star is just the cutest!
