Dove In The Window

Dove in the Window blocks that finish at 10.5 inches.
Yellow is the RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) color of the month.  This year I am working with my scrap chunks and since my yellow and orange scraps share the same scrap bag I made not only yellow blocks but I accidentally also made some orange blocks. Now I just won't have to make any of these blocks when orange comes up as the color of the month.

  1. Nice blocks. You soon won’t have any scraps to use up!

  2. I love orange scraps. They have their own bin. I'm hoping if I keep them in there that they will multiply... silly me. Your blocks are very pretty.

  7. Sometimes orange and yellow are so close, I can't tell if it's one or the other - a really dark yellow or a light orange! No matter which they are, those are great blocks!

  8. Beautiful blocks! I love the block pattern to begin with and then to see them in these gorgeous, not-your-common-yellows makes them all the better. Will you combine these with other colors or make a yellow quilt? And if a yellow quilt, will you put sashing between?

  9. I have quite a few scraps that can't decide if they are yellow or orange, so it's sometimes hard to know when to use them. Kind of a transition from one to the other. I haven't even pulled out the yellow scraps yet. Been working on a long overdue baby quilt (the quilt, not the baby).

  15. There area variety of blocks called Dove In The Window, and when reading through the Little House book series, Laura's older sister Mary is said to be making the Dove In The Window quilt blocks. I can finally see her making these in my minds eye! I believe it was The Hard Winter book that mentioned it. I hope you have read this series by Laura Ingalls Wilder! Wonderful!
