Orange 1.5 Inch Scraps and A Few Orange Crumbs

Four Postage Plus blocks made from 1.5 inch scraps.  These finish at 10 inches.  Yes they could be made a lot faster with strip sets; however, I'm trying to use up my 1.5 inch scraps and I actually enjoy sewing together the individual squares.  I enjoy seeing all the little scraps in the color of the month that I get to work with to make my blocks. And, I'm in no hurry to get 'er done.
With crumbs I made a couple of Crumby Hourglasses (Crumbs of Time??) that finish at roughly 11 inches.   In January I blogged about how I made these.  I'm making these out of crumbs in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month and a solid in a complementary color.

Now I'm waiting for a new color to be announced.

  2. I love your postage plus blocks. I bet they really eat the scraps. But my faves are the crumbs of time, or “seconds”, haha. Smashing!

  4. LOVE your pairing of Crumbs with Solids for those Hourglass blocks!! These will need to go on my To Make list, as pairing my favorite scraps with my least used fabrics sound like a recipe for a successful quilt.

  7. Coincidentally I was using 1.5” squares to a 49patch block today. A lot of fiddley sewing but quite happy with the result. Like your hour glass idea too.

  10. I often think "this would be quicker if I did it a different way". I like the orange plus a solid combinations a lot.

  12. After working with strings and scraps for a while I simply want to throw the little bits away. Your orange crumbs show what can be done with them instead. Combining them with large bits of a single fabric really makes them shine.
