Blue Skies and Butterflies
64 x 80
It's a finish!
I started making these in 2015 to use waste triangles to make butterflies ...
...and a variety of blue 2.5 inch scraps for the sky.
I used a variegated thread...
...to quilt flowers and leaves on my DSM.
There's more butterflies on the back.

Congrats! on another fabulous finish. LOVE the butterflies front AND back, too!!
ReplyDeleteI think I had that butterfly fabric at one time and used it for a back of a quilt and for some fussy cutting - nice quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt. Those little colorful corners transitioned into such a beautiful quilt. The quilt stitching and thread used are perfect.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day

Congrats on the finish! This is a gorgeous quilt. I'm loving all that blue with the bits of color pops!
ReplyDeleteWOW -- this turned out great. Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteAll the blues with their bright butterflies make a lovely quilt! That backing fabric is perfect, too!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it was such a fun quilt to work on in every way! Loving it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great use for little triangle scraps! Beautiful finish!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! I have tons of blue "chunks" and have been wondering what to do with them. I had already done a two color quilt using the blues and while it was nice it just didn't "do it" for me. These bits of color are perfect. I think I will do another blue quilt! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteA really lovely quilt finish. That blue sky is a stunning background to those fluttering butterflies, they definitely soar!
ReplyDeleteOh how beautiful... butterflies on the front and back!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Cathy! You are making me rethink all those triangle bits I toss in my trash. I feel the need right now to sort them out. Thanks(?) for sharing with Oh Scrap! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the blues and all the different butterflys
I am playing with "waste" hst as a confetti effect in white sashing
Love it. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see this finish! This was one of the first blocks I remember reading about on your blog. I love all the blues and the flittering little butterflies. Congrats on the wonderful finish :)
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is adorable and I love the backing fabric too!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for using those scraps, and it’s beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love this quilt! There is a large bag in my sewing room filled with bonus triangles just waiting for a project like this. You have probably inspired my next project. Sandy at sewhigh.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteFlitter, flutter -- a charming result! I think "bonus unit" is more appropriate than "waste triangle" -- especially for you.
ReplyDeleteA lovely, scrappy finish! Your quilting is amazing!
ReplyDeleteHow clever to mix your tiny butterflies on a variety of blues for the front and combine them with a large print of butterflies on the back! Congratulations on another great finish. Are you keeping this one?
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. So happy and lovely. Plus, you given me a great idea too! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFabulous finish! I love a good butterfly quilt.
ReplyDeleteBonus Maximus!
I've always liked your butterfly quilts and this is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful! And I love the varigated thread that you picked for quilting; it just fits the project :) Enjoy your finish! xo Melanie
