What's in the hoop?
It's probably the last big quilt that gets hand quilted until Autumn.
Baptist Fans
I mark a fan with chalk and a pounce pad. Then I hand quilt the fan. Then I mark a fan, quilt the fan, mark a fan, quilt the fan...
This is not big stitching.
Someday I'll be finished.
Cool. A labor of love beautifully done. I have seen rulers like that, but I didn't know you use the pounce method to mark the fabric. I was thinking an air erase pen.

beautiful...have a quilt in the waiting room that'll get hand quilted with baptist fans....
ReplyDeleteLove the fans quilting motif. It's perfect for this quilt. Pounce looks interesting. Last time I did a baptist fan, I used a Clover chaco tool. Pounce may be easier.
ReplyDeleteThe fan motif is always lovely and perfect for almost any scrappy quilt. It just seems to unify everything. Love the hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteThe Baptist fan design is lovely. Carry on stitching! Pretty colours in the quilt too.
ReplyDeleteLovely template--this should really look terrific--I tried a (supposed) water erasable marker on my little red and white quilt and the marks are STILL there....I am upset...and I tested it--on a corner and it came off there, but the next morning the marks re-appeared!! Ack!! Have fun quilting...before the hot weather arrives...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteThat's a knock out quilt and a good hand quilt design choice.
ReplyDeleteWonderful.
It's going to be beautiful. Well worth the time.
ReplyDeleteI need to try those Baptist fans on a large quilt, but I am afraid that I won't follow through. Which quilt flimsy to try it on? I have quite a selection to choose from!
