Triangle Tile blocks so far. Lots more to come.
Quiltfolk Magazine now has a monthly pattern subscription available. Each month a vintage quilt is featured and a pattern based on the vintage quilt is included in the subscription as well as instructions for more modern version by various designers. I decided to give it a try and Triangle Tiles was the July vintage ( or source) pattern. I'm using my 30s reproduction stash in red, yellow and blues with some browns mixed in.
So far I have received 3 different patterns, July-September. I was going to make all the vintage versions but was a little disappointed in the August edition because the instructions kind of strayed a lot from the vintage - it was simplified. And that's fine but I was drawn to the use of stripes in the vintage quilt and with the simplified version of the pattern stripes won't look the same. I have a stripe that would be perfect so I may work out how to use it myself. Other than that so far I like the Quiltfolk Patterns and will be looking forward to new ones on the first of each month.
Great choice of colours for your blocks. Second time I've seen this design. Linda of kokaquilts blog is also making this pattern. How many blocks will you make?
ReplyDeleteSo many gorgeous vintage prints in these blocks - a feast for the eyes. I'll have to check out the Quiltfolk patterns, not that I don't already have a lifetime of 'want to make' patterns already.
ReplyDeleteI really love your blocks--just so "you" --nice and scrappy...beautiful work hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Cathy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for Quiltfolk pattern tip. I enjoy just looking at quilts and
dreaming of new projects.
Your triangle tile blocks are awesome. I don't always like the modern way of way making a quilt. It might make it easier but when you hand quilt fewer seams is more important.
ReplyDeleteThe August one was my least favorite, too. LOVE the way your first one is turning out.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely the Queen of Half Square Triangles! How many of your WIPs are mostly made with HSTs? 8)

These are lovely! Nice to see it made up in itty bitty 30's fabrics. Are you making the full 56 blocks?
ReplyDeletep.s. I see what you mean about the stripes in the Aug. pattern, quite a different effect.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks! I’m going to make one! And I might sign up to quiltfolk, great suggestion.
