From the 1.5 Inch Scrap Bin

This month's Rainbow Scrap Challenge color is dark blue/dark neutrals. This week I dug into the 1.5 inch scrap bin and made some blocks I call Whatchamacallits. They are a version of Coins. The pieces are 1.5 x 2.5.  This is the second year of making them.
I've been making little Rails for two years also from 1.5 x 3.5 inch scraps.
I made a lot of them this month from what was in the scrap bin.
After I use the scraps in the 1.5 inch scrap bin to make the two different blocks...

...I've been putting them in a shoe box with some Spider Webs.

I'm not sure why the 1.5 inch scrap bin isn't empty yet.

  3. You must have a huge bin of 1.5" scraps. Love the Watchamecallits and the little rails. You must have quite a stash of both sets of blocks by now.

  4. Scraps are like mushrooms; they multiply in the dark.

  5. I think scraps multiply in the dark too and that they're determined to take over the world.
    Good progress on your piecing.

  6. Scrap bags never empty for long anyway. Love those spiderwebs and your blue and white rectangles remind me of the scrap quilt top I finished last month. Fun, fun, fun.

  7. You're making good use of your scraps. I wonder if you have a scrap elf that comes in and refills your scrap basket, like in the story of the shoemaker.

  8. Your spiderweb quilt is very colorful. I've been meaning to get back to mine. It's a good leader/ender project.

  10. It's always fun to see what you do with your tiny scraps; jolly good thing they are breeding in that bin.

    I too chuckled at that.

  14. Yeah, I'm with Louise! Though making the checkerboard rails cut into my 1.5" strips enough that I've had to cut some more. But since I've been dragging out every fabric I own to cut 2" squares and HSTs from, it's not much more work to hack off some extra strips.
I love those whatchamacallits - you and Sally are both tempting me with those!
