It's a Finish!

Happy Blocks with a school theme.
40 x 60

(Good thing I took photos yesterday because there's 2 inches of snow out there today).

I have a big box of Happy Blocks in various sizes and themes. I used to participate in a lot of novelty/I Spy swaps and when I had scraps I would make a few Happy Blocks and throw them in a box (aka Happy Place) .  Now when I need a quick quilt I dig around in that Happy Place.  I had about half of these 10 inch school themed blocks made already so got busy and made a few more.

I was inspired by Julie's " Blowing Bubbles"  quilting so gave that a try on my DSM.

And, hey!...Look who's getting a little better at machine binding!  (I really don't like the look of machine binding [or the process] but it is requested by a lot of the places I send quilts for kids.)

I pieced the batting and backing.  I had this remnant of fabric with ABCs on it so thought it was perfect to throw into the mix.

  1. Fun!
Snow here in Chicagoland, too. I looked up one of my blog posts from a couple of Aprils ago -- showing daffodils in bloom and that I'd just staked the peonies. Nothing is that far along this year.

  5. Even the back is a Happy Place!
We got some of that snow, too. I call it 'just-to-be-annoying' snow...

  6. I hope you're not planning on sending that snow in our direction, we have enough of our own! This may qualify as the spring that never was. I love your happy block quilts, and really need to make more for our ministry needs someday soon. They're so much fun to put together, and everyone seems to love them.

  8. Just enough internet here between islands to view your blog. The Happy Blocks are very fun, Crazy Lady of the Lake looks super in sunny yellows, and I especially like the mystery quilt! Why am I not surprised that you had enough daisy themed fabrics for that one? :)

  10. I love blocks like these. I have made several I Spy quilts, but usually the blocks are smaller, thus requiring more blocks. I think I'll follow your lead and make the blocks bigger. I'm not a fan of machine sewn binding either.

  12. No snow here, just tornado weather. Some local damage even happened Friday night. The quilt is very pretty.
