From the Majestic Crumb Nut Tree

From the Majestic Crumb Nut Tree - Crumb Nut Leaves...big ones...12 inches BIG.
The leaves are starting to turn colors now.  At least these are.
Jury is out as to whether or not I like Crumb Nut Leaves.  Maybe they would be good with a side of some leafy sashing.

Side note: Here's hoping my dad, stepmom, brother, niece and nephew in Naples and Bonita Bay, FL are not hit hard by Hurricane Irma.   My brother-in-law and wife live in Lumberton, TX and are trying to put their lives back together after they had 4.5 feet of water in their house from Hurricane Harvey.

  1. Maybe flying geese sashing? Very timely for autumn leaves...

  2. First of all, commiserations to your family members who have experienced Hurricane Harvey - it is hard to imagine how you pick yourself up after that. And now other family is anxiously watching what path Hurricane Irma will take. My best wishes to them all. On a different note: I love your Crumb Maple blocks - your creativity never ceases to amaze me. I love making Crumb blocks (I currently have a biscuit tin full) so I can see some more copying your ideas in my future. I hope you don't mind, Cathy. I think I should be charged royalties!

I personally love your crumby leaves...they must take quite a while to put together...I am still struggling with my orange/black hourglass blocks...(yep --totally angle-challenged am I!!) Hugs, julierose

  5. I think these leaves are great, such a good use of scrap and makes the leaves dance on solid backgrounds. Sorry to hear your family are being hit by mother nature's worst, I hope it gets better for them soon.

  6. I was wondering what block would have a name like Majestic Crumb Nut Tree!
Prayers for your family, I'm sorry to hear about all their difficulties.

  7. I love your leaves, but I don't think I would have the patience to work with crumbs that small.

I'll pray for your family, if you'll pray for mine. Two brothers and a SIL and nephew in Davie FL, just west of Fort Lauderdale and lots of friends in Lantana, Venice, Winter Haven, Ft Myers, Tallahassee and Pensacola. We've got the state covered! Two children in Houston area came through with only minor issues.

  9. I like the leaves! The scrappy bits capture how autumn leaves are rarely one color.

I'm sorry to hear that your family has been hounded by hurricanes. I know the feeling. My brother is in Houston, cleaning up after flooding. No fun at all :(

  11. Our family got through Harvey okay although several friends were flooded. Now we wait to see how or Florida friends come through.
I agree the crumb leaves will look better with something more around them. Great start.

  12. I too agree the leaves will look good with something added, but I definitely like the idea of using your scraps like this. I hope your family cope okay this weekend and emerge the other side relatively unscathed.

  13. Saw your note on your family in Lumberton. I'm here in Houston, dry and safe, but escaping reality by reading blogs. Prayers for your family affected by all these horrible storms.

Thanks for sharing your creativity. It's a nice escape. Love your blog.
