I'm embroidering on a set of old pre-stamped pillowcases. After I've finished the embroidery on two pillowcases I'll crochet an edging on both. I might also make a set of pillowcases from that rose fabric in the background. After all...I do have several rose themed quilts in the works so might as well make some rose themed pillowcases for the bed too.
Normally I stamp or trace my own embroidery patterns but my daughter brought me these pillowcases she found in her mother-in-law's things after she passed away several years ago. (My daughter fishes, forages and gardens but doesn't go near any type of needle despite my best efforts to lure her near one).
I used to do that kind of needle work for years now I just do a little embellishment - it is nice to have the patterns already stamped I think.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of sets of embroidered pillow cases that my grandmother made for me. She did the crocheted edging as well.
ReplyDeletevery nice vintage cases...my aunts taught me to embroider as a child to keep me busy while they took sunday afternoon naps...their hope chests were filled with all things embroidered...such wonderful memories!
ReplyDeleteLove the embroidered roses - reminds me of childhood embroidery projects! They'll look great with the rose quilts!
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty, and a crochet edging will be even better!
ReplyDeleteI think I have to see the doctor about my shoulder and my hand stitching. I've been patient long enough!
Those pillowcases are very pretty. I am embarking on my first embroidery project in several years. I also have some vintage bibs to embroider that I inherited from an aunt. Those will wait until I have grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteI love these pillowcases. Your embroidery is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your embroidered pillowcases, and the rose fabric is lovely. I have several vintage stamped embroidery kits and pillowcases in my needlework stash some were gifts, some I bought foraging the aisle of thrift and antique shops. I had two sets of pillow cases with huge peacocks stamped on them one in pink one white. I pre-washed the pink to remove the stamped lines then used my own design on them.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty rose pattern, and your embroidery is really lovely. I have a drawer full of similar pillowcases embroidered and then finished with hand crocheted edging, all made by my aunt. I keep thinking they are too pretty to use; I need to change that idea and start using them! ---"Love"
ReplyDeleteYour embroidery is beautiful, what a treat!
ReplyDeleteWith a crocheted edge, double treat.
some beautifully done embroidery here, I have a couple of tablecloths (small) in my stash with transfers on but not sure how to stitch them, maybe it is time to get them out and have a ponder oh just remembered gave my stash of stranded cottons away so will have to use perle or flower threads instead
ReplyDeletelove those pillow cases! Wish I had some to embroider is similar pattern!
ReplyDeleteThese are very pretty!
