It needs to go into the washing machine and dryer and then into the donation quilt box.
I made 48 string blocks from scraps last year and part of this year as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.
I normally use muslin as the foundation for my string blocks but this time I used paper and made 8 inch blocks.
Twenty-four blocks was enough for two child-size donation quilts.
(Yes, every once in a while I forget which way I'm spiraling in case you noticed).
I quilted it with some spirals on my plain Jane Janome. Binding was attached by machine - not my favorite look or binding method but it is recommended for some children's quilts especially if they are going to foreign countries.
This was my goal #9 for Q3 Finish Along with Adrianne of On the Windy Side.
At the end of the month I will link up to Julie's Binding Blitz.

So fun looking at all the different prints in this - almost like an ispy! Your swirls look great -- in both directions!
ReplyDeleteThe border and binding are the perfect cheery note to end your happy opus!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will bring a smile to everyone who sees it. (It worked on me...)
You have to love a good scrappy quilt and these are perfect for kids :-)
ReplyDeleteEvery kid would love this quilt. It is so colorfull!!
ReplyDeleteVery rich and bright! What a great finish!
ReplyDeleteNow that is some color! I started a few string blocks last night. I need to keep making a few each week so I can get my scrap box top closed again. Too many ideas and not enough time!
ReplyDeleteAwesome colourplay.
ReplyDeleteThe name was so funny for this I had to come over from the email. Sorry about not commenting more but I just read your posts on email. I enjoy a string quilt so much, and this one is so cheerful and fun. You get so much done. LeeAnna at not afraid of color
ReplyDeletecongratulations on your finish! I like how the prints are all crazy close up, yet from a distance all I see is the diagonal movement and the rainbow of colours. Great idea for a scrap challenge--wouldn't it be fun at a retreat for everyone to throw a rainbow of strips into a pile and then sew them into fun blocks like this?
ReplyDeleteA very successful quilt. The fabrics, construction, quilting and name are all fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAnd lovely music it's making, too! Congratulations on the finish.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, I love the saturated colours! I'm visiting as a member of the official 2015 Finish-Along cheerleading squad.
