Arkansas Crossroads
72 x 88
Scrappy
I used neutrals for the Xs and blue scraps for the X corners
There's some of my wild four patches and some that were swapped but I arranged them all with the darks in the middle of the 16 patch as well as the corners.
I quilted it very simply on my DSM. I don't stitch in the ditch because I never make the ditch so quilted a line through the center of the sixteen patches as well as along both sides of the Xs using the side of the sewing machine foot and the seam as a guide.
Binding was also scrappy blues and the backing was a flannel sheet in excellent condition I picked up at the thrift store for $2.50. The whole quilt has been washed and dried and is sooooo soft.
I can mark another UFO off of my list.

Another gorgeous scrappy quilt. Congratulations on your lovely finish!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scrappy quilt! So homey and comfy looking. Oh the dreaded ditch, it's a trickster, making you think it's easy but its not. For years I thought it was me, I'm learning to stay away from it also.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt, i love all your quilts, i love your blog. It´s great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous quilt! You're really cookin' this quarter!,
ReplyDeleteGreat scrappy quilt! Getting the ditch spot on can be a problem!!
ReplyDeleteI have made quite a few of these but always monochromatically. Really love the way this turned out and thank you for talking through how you set it up. I'm taking notes so my next Arkansas Crossroads/Good Night Irene can be scrappy.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt. I am in a swap with some friends and we are just finishing up swapping. I think one more month. I am so excited to start sewing the blocks together!!! You did a terrific job. Love how you quilted it. Oh, I can't wait .......
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on another whirlwind finish!!! A real beauty of a scrapper to be proud of with all of your care in arranging those 16-Patches from the old swaps. Thanks so much for the close ups that let me squeal, "OOOh, I sent those and those!" Great fun and a great quilt!
ReplyDeleteWow! It's great! I don't think I have ever seen an entire Arkansas Traveler quilt, only single blocks, so I have never seen the full effect. Congratulations on the finish.
ReplyDeleteAnother charming scrap quilt! I enjoy reading how people decide to organize their scraps so it's nice to know where you put blues. Hooray for you.
ReplyDeleteNow that used a bunch of scraps, nice going!!
ReplyDeleteIt always feels so good to mark an old UFO off the list. And this one is a lovely one! Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteLove the pattern you chose for your scrappy quilt!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job! So cheerful.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Oh Scrap! This is a pattern I am not familiar with; looks like a great scrap buster.
ReplyDeleteI love this controlled scrappy quilt. Your placement of the neutrals and blues really lets it shine. I also have trouble staying in the ditch when quilting. You came up with a great solution. I sometimes quilt 1/4 inch to either side of the seam. www.quiltartbymegan.com
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great pattern to use scraps and thanks for sharing how you controlled where you would use the colors to enhance the design. A real beauty.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful way to use scraps. I love what the final quilt looks like.
