A Wedding Gift Needs a Name

80 x 80
16 inch Depression Blocks
A September Wedding Gift

I've heard tell that my nephew is getting married in September.
He and his fiance have very few household goods so, planning ahead,  I decided to finish one of my UFOs for a wedding gift.

Some of the 400 HSTs in this quilt were swapped and some were made from my scraps.

I quilted it with a walking foot on my DSM with a sort of uneven crosshatch.
I had some brown polka dot in my stash that I used for binding.

After a spin in the washer and a stint in the dryer the quilt came out crinkly, puffy, soft and cuddly.

I need to think of a name for it. Depression Blocks doesn't seem quite appropriate for a wedding gift.

At the end of the month I'll link up to Julie's Binding Blitz

  1. That's a beauty! Depression block is one of my bucket list quilts. Thanks for sharing it.
I'd call it "His & Hers" because of the darks and lights.

    okay how about...
    Old fashion love affair
What you if googled romantic movies titles or songs from the the 1930's for a name. After presenting them the quilt you could explain the name of the block and why you chose a different name for the quilt, but used a title from the 1930's.

  6. I think scrappy quilts are the very best kind to give for wedding quilts - life is full of bits and pieces, all jumbled together, that somehow turn into something wonderful . . . Maybe that could be the name - Something Wonderful !!

  9. Gorgeous quilt. But I am useless with names, so I am of no use to you there. Must make a Depression block quilt. I have a heap of HSTs pieced into squares already.

  11. Oh, I love this quilt. I have a thing for color and HSTs!! I think I would call it "Diamonds are Forever", which alludes to the diamonds in the quilt and the wedding diamonds and vows...

  12. So many good name suggestions already for the lovely gift. Scrap quilts are the best. This one is so cheerful and charming. The newlyweds will love it and enjoy using it. Congratulations!

  13. "Old-Fashioned Love Song" is what came to my mind, but I love the suggestion of "Diamonds Are Forever" even better than mine.

I love, love old fashioned looking quilts. A simpler time--using what you have to create a beautiful, useful thing!

  17. I've never liked the name of this block - such a downer! You've been offered some great names for a wedding quilt though, and what a wonderful gift it will be!

  19. Congrats on completing your goal. It's beautiful. Whatever you name it should fit the couple, not the quilt, so I'm sure you'll come up with the perfect name. They will love it.
