I'm only showing 6 blocks of the completed 24 block set.
Blocks finish at 10 inches. Quilt will finish at 40 x 60.
This is going into the SAR (Some Assembly Required) bin to be assembled into a top at a future date.
I decided to make these blocks because I had noticed a lot of greens in my 2.5 inch width scrap bin.
(It is actually what I call a Basket Weave pattern).
BUT
I didn't use a jellyroll.
I didn't make as many blocks.
I didn't make stripsets of 5 WOF strips (because I didn't have that many). Instead I made 4 strip sets of 3 or 4 strips and then cut them into the 6.5 inch sections and added 2.5 x 6.5 inch rectangle(s) (from 2.5 inch width scrap bin) to the ends of each section.
I previously blogged about a pink and a blue version of Contessa. Maybe next month I will assemble and quilt all three.
And sew on...
Going where the scraps take me and making comfort quilts one scrap at a time.

Heat wave here and I don't have air conditioning in this old farm house so I'm not going to do much for a couple of days except sit near a couple of fans and sew.
We've been getting a lot of rain & heat waves that make it unbearable to be outside, the green blocks are looking good
ReplyDeleteFans sound nice! I'm thankful for the central air my hubby insisted on putting in a few years back. I fought it, but the window shakers weren't doing much good and so noisy! Even so, the upstairs stays pretty warm (where my sewing room is), so fans still spin and I often find myself reading because it doesn't require an iron! The green blocks are a fun review of your stash and remind me of rows of plants in the garden.
ReplyDeleteI feel so sorry for you not having A/C I know a lot of people don't I remember years ago when we didn't and my mom and dad had no air conditioning for years when they moved to Arkansas the humidity was horrible when we would visit. I hope your humidity is not too bad.
ReplyDeleteYour greens are appropriate for me as I type this—we are rolling through the countryside in County Tipperary en route to an Irish farm. Sunny and 70 today. Nann
ReplyDeleteI love your quilts they are so bright and happy. I can tell you love color and quilting. Stay as cool as you can. Good day to spend the day at the library.
ReplyDeleteHeat is ramping up here, too, Cathy; sewing quietly is a good thing to do to while you stay cool in front of that fan...hugs, Julierose
