Sashed Sixteen Patch
57 x 67.5
It's a top!
This is another top that used up a lot of those gallon bags of 2 inch squares I've been talking about lately. First I made Sixteen Patch blocks.
Then I added lime green sashing that consistes of a strip of four squares between 2 lime green strips. And the corner stones are nine patches that include lime green squares.
For the outside borders I did not have enough lime green fabric left for the little Nine Patches so I made scrappy Nine Patches of 2 inch squares.
It kind of looks like it might glow in the dark!
And now there's another top ready for quilting!
And sew on...
Wow, the lime green makes the 16patches really pop. There’s a lot of work in this top, well done for putting it all together!
ReplyDeleteI like this quilt! The green brightens the darker squares. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteGreat result! I never seem to get tired to working with small squares.
ReplyDeleteIt does look like it would glow in the dark. I love the scrappy 9-Patch on the last border. The fact that they don't have lime green, makes them look "stronger" like posts for the fence all around this quilt. You know what I mean? Anywho! It looks great. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what Chantal means and I agree, I love the adaptation for the outer 9 patches, and I LOVE that bright green!
ReplyDeleteThe cool 16-patches -- mostly blues, periwinkle, a little purple livened up with pops of red -- are set off so well by the vibrant lime. And the row of squares in the sashing is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThe lime green is just great with all your scrappy squares! I love that design, too. This is such a pretty quilt top!
ReplyDeleteThat green for the sashings was a great choice. It really makes this quilt 'pop'. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, you are hard to keep up with! The lime green really makes this pop. I was gifted some lime green fabric a while ago and used in on a kiddies quilt, it looked great there too.
ReplyDeleteZowie! Love the energy of this. I don’t think I would consider lime green, but it is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel successful! You used about a zillion and a half 2 inch squares! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAs others have said, the lime green choice was genius and the nine-patches in the border are perfect. No apologies needed.
It's amazing what you do without a design wall! (I don't have one either.)
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought of lime green for the sashing but WOWZERS does it ever work! Well done!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI love lime green and I love the way you did the sashings. The whole quilt is brighter with that green.
