Snowballs
3 inch Snowballs in 9 inch blocks
I was working with my brown scraps and UFOs last month and had some 3 inch bits and pieces that I decided to turn into Snowballs. I also found some red squares (red is this month's Rainbow Scrap Challenge color) and made a couple of blocks. I made a similar quilt several years ago and my daughter snatched it up right after I finished it so I thought it might be time to make another for someone else to snatch up. So this is a new Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) project.
Patchwork Stars
12 inch finished
These were also made with 3.5 inch width scraps and are a new RSC project.
I also made a 6 inch Sawtooth Star and used it as the center for a 12 inch Star. I'm only making one of these because I'm going to use it in a red, white and blue Four Patch quilt.
Red, White and Blue Four Patches
And since "Squares and Rectangles" is the July theme in my sewing room I hope to make a few more Four Patches so I can move this quilt forward.
And sew on...
Your 12” star block is gorgeous! Squares and rectangles as a theme for the month gives you a lot of options for blocks and quilt tops and I’m sure you will make the most of it. Happy sewing!๐๐งต

ReplyDeleteCan't WAIT to see your Double Star in a field of 4-Patch blocks, Cathy!!
ReplyDeleteWith all the finished tops you made lately, I guess you had no choice but to start a few new things. Looking forward to seeing these new ones grow. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteand red and brown is a classic combo
ReplyDeleteI love those snowball blocks--one of my favorite blocks to make.. I really like them in those pretty reds...hugs Julierose
ReplyDeleteYour red stars in all their manifestations are perfect for this July 4th celebration week.
ReplyDeleteI’m anxious to see your sawtooth star in a star block too!
ReplyDeleteThe snowballs are appealing; I like the effect of the contrasting corner colors. Now I'm thinking that would be a fun thing to start when the current projects are finished (you know, in a month or so......).
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your projects; I enjoy your monthly themes.
