Zip To The Finish Line

Zip!
42 x 54
It's a finish!

I made the blocks in September 2022 when the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) color was light blue because I had quite a few scrap chunks of light blue at that time.

I quilted it on my DSM (Brother PQ1500). I tried something new - ribbons or maybe they are streamers.  I had just enough of the backing fabric for binding too.

And sew on...

  4. Very pretty! And thanks for the idea about a new, easy FMQ design.

  5. I've seen this block all over blogland. I remember Lynn's Zip quilt too. It was made with all colours and prints. It isn't a block that attracts me. I find it pretty ... it doesn't have enough ... it's lacking something for me. Now that I see it all in one colour, it is nice and I'm starting to understand the fuss around this block. Well done, Cathy. ;^)

  7. This turned out beautifully! I am always looking for a new way to quilt on my DSM (I have several old machines that I rotate among). I look forward to trying the streamers/ribbons. Don’t you love Lynn’s “solids with prints” series?! I have started about 9 of them! I should probably just focus on one at a time. When I pull out my solids, I want to cut it all up, so go ahead and cut for each different pattern…
