String Quilt
51 x 68
It's a finish!
I finished the top in October 2021. It was one of several different string quilts I made with a big box of strings. (And I think it is time that I repeat the process. The string box is overflowing once again.)
This used a lot of background fabric and not many strings so although I do love the quilt I doubt I will make this one again. It did not really use up many strings.
I quilted it with red thread spirals on my DSM.
The binding is a solid green that's been around for awhile. And the best thing about it is that there was enough of it to go around with a little to spare.
The back.
And now it is ready for gifting or giving.
And sew on...
You make the most colorful quilts. I'm trying to change from my boring quilts and am using your quilts as inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Jean has the most amazing library of quilts on her old blog. I hope she never takes it off the internet. I love your version!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really busy quilt that just screams HAPPY!!!! I love it. And the backing is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love the red alternate block fabric. I have a little of it in couple colors and it has been in a few of my quilts.
ReplyDeleteI really like that design. It's an interesting layout for a string quilt I haven't seen before.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - I LOVE this quilt. Your choice of the red and green fabrics that are the constants throughout the quilt are fantastic. If I had made one like this I would be making it over and over again! Love the backing too.
ReplyDeleteI love that colorful backing. I need to tackle the string box(es), too.

I’ve just made this pattern too! Mine is currently at my long arm quilter, but I’ll show it in January after it’s been gifted. Yes, I agree, it doesn’t really use up many scraps. Probably because the centre squares are so big. But it was a quick make for me for a quilt that going to be gifted to a relative. Your version is very nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about string quilts? This one just feels exuberant! Great job Cathy!:)
ReplyDeleteI love how you used the fabric in the large squares - it is so awesome and you had NO trouble letting it sparkle with the strings.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another super scrappy quilt finish, Cathy!
ReplyDeleteYou put a great tweak on string quilts. The red blocks add pizzaz and mystery. It does sparkle.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun string quilt. The background squares almost hide that it is a string quilt
