I've been outside most of the last couple of days working in the gardens. Today I started outside early because I knew it was going to be a very warm afternoon. It is 85 degrees right now. I've been planting lots of flowers so maybe in a month or so I'll have real flowers ready for some baskets. For now I have settled for Flower Basket quilt blocks. Now I only need to make 10 more blocks to reach my goal of 50.
Some of you asked about a pattern. I drafted my own. Last year I googled "flower basket quilt block" or something like that and ended up with the above image but when I went to click on the link my antivirus program popped up with a message that the site was malicious. So I didn't go there. I did like the block so I copied off the picture and wrote my own notes that mostly pertain to cutting. I don't really need assembly instructions.
Some of you leave such lovely comments but are "no reply" which means either you don't have your email listed with your google profile or you don't leave it in the comment. I'd like to reply to your lovely comments but can't if I don't have an email addy. So anyway, thank you if you have lately left a comment on any blog post.
And sew on...
I've had a similar experience with my antivirus software, Norton. It took me a little while but I found a way to report the result to them while asking that they reevaluate the URL. Both times, within 24 hours, the negative recommendation was removed. When it happened a 3rd time (with a quilt blogger) I simply ignored the recommendation and went in anyway with no deleterious effects. Of course I didn't expect to access that one again so.... Perhaps your software has a similar option.
ReplyDeleteI love the basket blocks. I have only made one basket quilt and placed the block on point. I think with this block I might leave it tipped and maybe both directions (or all 4 directions). I'll be watching to see how you set yours.
ReplyDeleteIt is 88 degrees here so I only spent about 15 minutes outside so far today. I hope to work on my porch pots. I think I'll dig in the ground next week when it is cooler.
I'm another who likes basket blocks, especially when they're scrappy just like yours! The note at the bottom of your post is a good idea, i have folks who eave lovely comments but no way to reply to them,
ReplyDeleteVery pretty baskets. Your scraps are always so varied.
ReplyDeleteI have decided it is high time I get busy and plan out a basket quilt of my own - thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet basket blocks. I often draft my own too. Almost always possible to do and then the quilt can be more the size you need or want it to be anyway!:)
ReplyDeleteI got out my graph paper and now have your pattern. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThere are some blogs that I have commented on and got no response from the blogger, so = frustration!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much what my patterns look like, too. As long as I don't lose the piece of paper...
ReplyDeleteI love this funky basket block!!!!! Never seen this variation before. That's the way I create my patterns too - take a screen shot and then do the math to make it whatever size I want it to be.
