River Log Cabin Finish

River Log Cabin
It's a finish!
48 x 64

I received these blocks last year from someone who received them from someone else. The baggie said they were River Log Cabin blocks which is a Missouri Star pattern.

I just had to assemble the blocks into a top, quilt and bind for a finish!

I quilted with spirals in light brown thread on my DSM.

The backing is a nature type print of sticks and twigs and leaves - kind of like what you would find along a river bank I guess.  Someone else recently sent me the binding in a box of scraps.

Now it is ready for donation.  I have been looking at shipping to a couple of places like Comfort Cases and Little Lambs via Give Back Box and just noticed they added a new label for shipping shoes, clothes and blankets for Ukrainian Refugees in Poland. I usually send smaller quilts to Quilts Beyond Borders which then sends them on to a variety of International and Domestic initiatives (over 700 quilts distributed so far in the first two months of this year) but shipping is getting expensive so I've been looking at other options for shipping quilts. Someone else suggested looking into Pirateship for reduced shipping costs.

  3. I've donated to Little Lambs in the past. Thanks for the information about the Give Back Box, Cathy. I knew that Covered in Love participated, but I didn't recall that Little Lambs did. Congrats on completing "A Friend's River Cabin" quilt. Many hands really do make light work (and end up getting the job done!)

  4. I am planning to use these labels as well for my CIL donations. And Give Back is my Amazon Smile choice as of a few weeks ago. Helping others matters.

  7. Great quilt, those midnight blues, purples and reds really make this quilt “shine”. Good choice by the quilter to forward the blocks to you as you’ve made a great job, Cathy. Lovely to be able to use binding from another quilter too. This will make a super warm gift for Ukrainian refugees in Poland. Hope one of your donation shipping routes helps you with the cost of posting.
