Red Scraps Part I

Red is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) color of the month. I usually start with the biggest scraps and work my way down to the smallest scraps throughout the month.

New this year I'm making The Dandy Quilt blocks (instructions at Quilter's Cache) that finish at 12 inches. In the past I've made a Dandy quilt with 30s reproduction prints and another with all green scraps. I really like this block so am making another quilt. This time I'm making blocks with the RSC color of the month and its color complement will be used for the star points and HST corners.

Continuing from last year are the X+ blocks made with 3.5 and 2 inch pieces.

Also continuing on from last year are these Buckeye Beauty blocks in the color of the month as well as a plaid. I had quite a few men's shirt scraps to use so that is why I started these. They finish at 6 inches.

Also continuing from last year are big chips in jewel tones with white on black and...

...and small chips with black on whites.

The waste triangles from the flippy corners on the Dandy blocks and big Chips were made into QSTs.

Got scraps??

  12. Wow! Lots of fun with red this month. Seeing the square in a square with the black and white corners gave me some ideas of doing something similar with the tons of black and white scraps I have. Thanks for the inspiration!
