One Stitch At A Time

Tulips in the Snow

Before my granddaughter Kayla passed away on January 15th I had pinned a small lap quilt for hand quilting but had not yet taken a stitch. I have picked it up a few times over the last few weeks and put in a few stitches when I could.

Each day I have been able to do more and more stitching. Ah, the healing power of quilting!

Teaching Kayla some hand stitching 2012.

  5. I cannot imagine the great loss but I know that God will give you the strength and comfort. Handwork is probably a good way to work through it.

  6. What a sweetheart Kayla looks in the photo -- and definitely was from your descriptions of her.
Doing something with one's hands can be helpful in times of grief, I think. We accomplish something physical and our minds can meander to our loved one.
    Your quilt will be beautiful.

  8. My heart grieves for you....I am an only child and lost my parents 6 days apart. Each day does not bring a noticeable decrease in the pain but week by week, month by month the pain does lessen a bit. I read Kayla's online obituary. She was absolutely stunning; so, so beautiful. As bad as losing my parents, I cannot fathom the loss of one of my 4 grandbabies. Prayers for you and yours.....
