My Postage Stamp Pandemic (PSP20-21) Blocks have been on hold for awhile because I ran out of postage stamps. I've slowly been trying to replenish my supply but then a friend sent me a gallon bag of postage stamps so now I'm back in business, thank goodness! Meanwhile I'm still cutting some because I don't think you can ever have too many postage stamps.
Continuing on from last weeks blocks made from 3.5 and 2 inch strips cut from scrap chunks I made some Puss in the Corner blocks.
This year I've been trying to empty out the 1. 5 inch scrap bin and I'm pretty close to empty now. I've been making 5.5 inch (unfinished rails) and 18 patches with 1.5 x 2.5 inch pieces in light and darks of the same color.
Then I played around a bit and framed some 3 inch Nine Patches. I wasn't sure I liked how they looked together so...
...framed a couple of light corners thinking I could reverse light and dark corners. I wasn't sure I liked that configuration all that much either so I tried out...
...alternating light and dark corners in a few different colors. The jury is still out on this one. I'm thinking these will go into the orphan block box. Or I may go with the light corners/dark sides only and set them on point or maybe...
And speaking of Nine Patches...last year I made six inch (finished) Nine Patches with 2.5 inch scraps when I was emptying my 2.5 inch width scrap bin. Now I'm turning the light and pastel Nine Patches into Sister's Choice blocks. This was the only Nine Patch that looked like a light aqua but now that pieces have been added to turn it into a Sister's Choice it looks like it is light blue.
You always have so many ideas about creating different blocks using the small 9 patch centres. Love that last block, so light and fresh looking.
ReplyDeleteI like all of your blocks. Several years ago I reduced my 1.5" strip box considerably. The problem is to keep it that way, happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteI tink you've got a good idea there to alternate darks and lights on the sides and corners of your framed 9 patches. A gallon bag of postage stamp pieces should go a long way!
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful options!Love all the teal and aqua wonderfulness.
ReplyDeleteNine patches and postage blocks just remind me of the beach and the ocean. Beautiful blocks, you have been busy.
ReplyDeleteYou have so many beautiful turquoise and teal scrappy blocks! The PSP20-21 are amazing! I like the first photo of your framed nine-patch blocks with the dark sides and light corners. I would set them with light sashing that has a dark square at each end plus light cornerstones. I think it would give a nine-patch effect at the intersections.
ReplyDeleteI love to look at your photos and check out all the interesting and beautiful fabrics. Lovely blocks!
ReplyDeleteOh, I see one I sent you! And I see another one! And another one! (Gee, and I thought I'd gotten rid of them.) LOL.
ReplyDeleteglad to see the psp blocks again - good to have scrappy donators
ReplyDeleteI love to watch you play with blocks!
ReplyDeleteYour AQUA blocks make my heart happy, Cathy!! Hope you are having SEW much fun with August's Color of the Month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I know I would be, if I could only find the right box (and the power cord for my machine!)
ReplyDeletei declare you have the very prettiest scraps i've seen....all lovely
ReplyDeleteWow, you are hard to keep up with your weekly RSC stitching. All you work makes my measley four blocks look rather measley!
ReplyDeleteI'm forever pulling things out of the aqua/teal/turquoise box thinking they look too blue or too green, but when I try to put them in the blue or green boxes, they don't look right there either. I'm looking at your Sister's Choice block wondering if I can turn one of those into my August Table Scraps. I'll give it a try tomorrow.
ReplyDeletePat
Your blocks are all delightful!
ReplyDeleteIMPRESSIVE! As always!
ReplyDeleteI am SEW enjoying this month because I LOVE aqua/turquoise fabrics! Your post was wonderful to see. I agree that the aqua /blue combo can be problematic. I have those fabrics too.
ReplyDeleteSew many wonderful blue fabrics!
