It's a Finish! Mother Goose Redwork

Mother Goose Redwork
It's a finish!
Hand quilted.
44 x 56

The redwork doesn't show up very well in the above photo but the hand quilting does.

I traced the illustrations on to muslin and stitched them with red perle #8

I bordered them with some red 30s reproduction fabrics.

I guess you could mistake Mother Goose as a witch. She's riding a broom and not a goose. Goose must have been off laying a golden egg or something the day this illustration was made.

I finished the top back in February 2017 and I could never figure out how to quilt it so it sat around for awhile.

Last month I started hand quilting with white perle #12.

The back was a print with some nursery rhyme characters.

And now it will go into the hope chest and be a gift for my first great grandchild someday. And to go along with the quilt is an old Mother Goose book I received as a baby shower gift when I was pregnant with my first born who is now 47. Time flies!

  2. The crosshatching is the perfect design for this quilt. It looks great but doesn't take away from the beauty of the redwork. Happy stitching!

  10. This redwork quilt is beautiful, you did a lovely job and the backing is perfect. I bought that some book for my sister when she was bornin 1973 and she gave it back to me when my son was born in 1981 and he passed it on to my great niece in 2013.
